Phoenix Suns Skatefest Presented by K2

Updated: May 9, 2005

The inaugural Phoenix Suns SkateFest presented by K2 Skate will take place on Sunday, March 20 on the streets of Copper Square in downtown Phoenix. A one-mile loop starting on the Bud Light Paseo at the America West Arena will take in-line skaters throughout downtown Phoenix. The event is an open skate for in-line skaters of all skill levels. The event is free and open to the general public.

In addition to taking in the sights of downtown Phoenix, skaters will also be treated to the sounds of the city as well. Music will be emanating throughout the course as popular local band, T.A.T.E, will be rockin’ on the Bud Light Paseo and various radio station remotes will be situated throughout the course.

For those interested in learning how to skate, free skate clinics will be held throughout the day. Separate clinic areas for adults and children will be staged just north of the America West Arena on 2nd Street between Washington and Jefferson Streets.

Additional fun and festivities are planned for the day. The Phoenix Suns Dancers and The Gorilla will be on hand signing autographs; and Phoenix Suns inflatables and games will be available for kids of all ages. Raffle prizes from K2 including in-line skates, snowboard, skis and a mountain bike, as well as Suns memorabilia and game tickets, will be awarded throughout the event.

Registration for the event will begin at 10:30 AM on the Bud Light Paseo at the America West Arena. The first 500 people to register for the event will receive a free SkateFest T-shirt compliments of K2 Skate. Skate rentals will also be available for participants.
