Suns, D-Backs Announce Acquisition of Jefferson St. Parking Garage
The Phoenix Suns and Arizona Diamondbacks have teamed up to acquire the Jefferson Street Parking Garage from the City of Phoenix, as announced today by Rick Welts, President & CEO of the Suns and Derrick Hall, President & CEO of the Dbacks.
The venture establishes a team-affiliated entity that has taken over day to day operations for the garage as of August 1, 2009. The 6-story free standing parking garage is located at 333 East Jefferson Street, directly between US Airways Center and Chase Field, and has a parking capacity of 1456 spaces.
“The deal is important to both organizations because it guarantees the long-term availability of convenient parking adjacent to US Airways Center and Chase Field for our fans and all those attending events at both facilities,” said Welts.
“We always make the fan experience our top priority and top of mind,” said Hall. “Part of that experience is the convenience, availability and affordability of parking. This garage can satisfy our two organizations and all of our fans in all three areas. Our collaboration is intended to fulfill the best interest and needs of our loyal fans.”
“Downtown Phoenix is increasingly becoming the place to be. It will continue to be not only the heart of our community, but the heart of Arizona for decades to come,” said Phoenix Mayor Phil Gordon. “I appreciate the vision of the Suns and Diamondbacks and all they continue to bring to us all.”
