Posted Oct. 30, 2008

PHOENIX – The Phoenix Suns are teaming up with Fry’s Food Stores to introduce Suns Dogs, the Official Hot Dog of the Phoenix Suns, when the club takes on the New Orleans Hornets tonight (October 30) in the home opener at US Airways Center. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.

The premium all-beef frank will sell for $5.50 and will be available for purchase at all Levy Restaurants concession stands, suites, as well as the AOT Club and Lexus Club. Levy Restaurants is the in-house concessionaire for US Airways Center. The Suns Dogs will also be offered at Fry’s Food Stores throughout the Valley in the coming months.

“We expect to look back at this as the beginning of a new tradition,” said Phoenix Suns President and Chief Operating Officer Rick Welts. “No visit to a Suns game will be complete without enjoying a Suns Dog, and every backyard barbeque will have Suns Dogs on the menu.”

The Gorilla and Solar Squad will distribute the Suns Dogs during select timeouts during the Suns home opener, offering fans the opportunity to try the premium all-beef frank. In addition, the Suns will host hot-dog races as part of in-game promotions throughout the 2008-09 season.

“Fry’s Food Stores saw an opportunity to bring additional value to our already strong partnership with the Suns and their fans – Fry’s wanted to offer our customers who are undoubtedly Suns fans a quality hot dog at a value price,” said Fry’s Food Stores President Jon Flora. “Fry’s is the low-price leader in the Valley, and this is one great way to make our Arizona residents’ dollars go further.”

In addition, the Phoenix Suns and Fry’s Food Stores will give away lanyards to the first 15,000 fans in attendance at tonight’s home opener. Sporting Suns and Fry’s logos, the limited edition lanyards are the perfect accessory for fans to keep track of their keys while they cheer on the Suns. The lanyards will be given away at each entrance to US Airways Center, with doors scheduled to open at 5:30 p.m.
