Now Hiring: Director, Marketing & Promotions

This successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all marketing functions including: advertising, database marketing, e-marketing, promotions, and direct mail. The primary objectives are to strengthen the Mercury brand, to drive ticket sales revenues, to support corporate sponsorship revenue generation and to build the audience for professional women’s basketball across the state of Arizona. This individual will work in tandem with the Chief Operating Officer and the Mercury Leadership Team to plan and execute the annual business plan.

Responsibilities include (but not limited to):

  • Develop and execute the advertising, promotions and media plan.
  • Provide input regarding public relations and community relations initiatives to build unpaid media exposure in non-sports media.
  • Interface with all departments to assist in the development, implementation, tracking and analysis of marketing and sales campaigns.
  • Identify outside events to generate sales leads, build a targeted direct sales campaign and track results.
  • Supervise the development and production of marketing and sales collateral materials.
  • Foster and maintain relationships with various media outlets and other promotional partners.
  • Prepare and administer operating budget for Mercury marketing, public relations and community relations activities.
  • Oversee content of and all social networking activities related to the Mercury.
  • Manage agency relationships.
  • Manage and negotiate fan food and beverage offerings with Levy Restaurants.
  • Assist with identification, development and implementation of target segment integrated marketing programs including events, direct marketing and sales promotions.
  • Assist with development and execution of game day promotions and game presentation.
  • Assist with development of customer retention programs.
  • Assist with development of initiatives to support new revenue opportunities.
  • Contribute to identifying, prospecting and closing new marketing partners.
  • Manage selection process and ongoing oversight of summer intern and seasonal staff.
  • Qualifications include:

  • A Bachelors degree
  • Five years experience in a related field (strongly preferred)
  • Database marketing and/or research experience (sports marketing experience preferred)
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong organizational/project management skills
  • Proven leadership and management abilities
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Proven ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities simultaneousl
