Planet Orange Goes Green, Powered by APS

As part of NBA Green Week 2010 (April 1-9), the Phoenix Suns will host Planet Orange Goes Green Night, Powered by APS when they take on the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday, April 7 at US Airways Center. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. with doors opening at 5:30 p.m.

    The Suns will purchase Green E-Certified carbon offsets equivalent to the amount of energy needed to power US Airways Center from APS that evening. APS Green Experts along with the APS Renewables inflatables will also be on the plaza pre-game to share green tips with fans as they enter the building.

    The night will feature a variety of environmentally-friendly themed activities throughout the game. Special t-shirts made of recycled materials will be used for the in-game t-shirt toss courtesy of Coke, APS will provide one lucky section with energy saving compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFL), and Fry’s Food Stores will provide fans who sign up for Fry’s Rewards with a reusable tote bags.

    Prisma Graphics will join the cause by distributing 10,000 “Beat San Antonio” fan signs. The sign will be printed on Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified stock. FSC certified stock ensures that the paper comes from a well-managed forest and other controlled sources that are adhering to strict environmental and socioeconomic standards.

    All Suns players will also be wearing 100 percent organic cotton shooting shirts featuring the official NBA Green Week logo.

    Additionally, two fan videos that were submitted in a recent "How Green Are You?" video challenge powered by APS, will be displayed in arena.
