NBA Hosting All-Star Block Party in Downtown Phoenix

PHOENIX, Feb. 3, 2009 – The National Basketball Association today announced a new free event that will give fans the opportunity to celebrate the excitement of NBA All-Star 2009 in a unique outdoor festive environment, the NBA All-Star Block Party presented by Right Guard.

The NBA All-Star Block Party presented by Right Guard will take place from Thursday, Feb. 12 through Sunday, Feb. 15 in an outdoor space right outside the US Airways Center in downtown Phoenix, the site of the 2009 NBA All-Star Game. It will be open to the general public and will be free for all fans to attend. The four-day celebration will feature a variety of events, including appearances by NBA players and Legends, live musical performances, video game kiosks, food and beverage areas, basketball-themed activities and competitions, and an NBA Store featuring authentic NBA All-Star 2009 merchandise.

Right Guard, which joined the NBA as an official marketing partner last June and is headquartered locally in Scottsdale, Ariz., will serve as presenting partner of the NBA All-Star Block Party. As part of its support of the event, Right Guard will host player appearances and provide coupons for free products, including their new Right Guard Fast Break deodorant, within the Block Party site. In addition, TNT and NBA TV will broadcast their live studio shows from the NBA All-Star Block Park presented by Right Guard on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

The Block Party, free for all fans, will provide everyone the opportunity to join in the excitement of NBA All-Star. It will enhance the overall All-Star experience, which also includes NBA All-Star Jam Session presented by adidas and all of the events at the US Airways Center.”

Several other NBA marketing partners, including EA SPORTS and Toyota, will also support the event by offering unique experiences for fans at their areas within the NBA All-Star Block Party. In addition, beer will be sold within designated spaces to guests who are at least 21 years old.
