2013-14 Player Preview: Malcolm Lee

Malcolm Lee

At a glance: 6-5, 200 pounds, 23 years old

2012-13 stats: 18.1 minutes, 4.9 points, 2.4 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 0.8 steals per game

How he got here: Acquired on June 27, 2013, in a draft-day trade with the Golden State Warriors

What he brings to the table: Lee was actually playing significant minutes for the T-Wolves before injuries forced him out of action. Perimeter defense is his calling card, hence his good steals numbers in limited minutes. He’s an opportunistic scorer, using his combination of speed and midrange shooting to punish defenses as one of the options in offensive sets.

Goal: Stay healthy (35 games played in first two seasons)

Best game as a pro: Nov. 11, 2012 at Los Angeles (Clippers). Lee kept pace with the Clippers’ deep backcourt rotation, hitting 4-of-7 shots on his way to 10 points. He added an impressive seven rebounds to his stat line, along with a steal and a block before the Timberwolves lost by six.
