2013-14 Player Preview: Kendall Marshall

Kendall Marshall

At a glance: 6-4, 195 pounds, 22 years old

2012-13 stats: 14.6 minutes, 3.0 points, 3.0 assists per game

How he got here: Acquired with the 13th overall pick in the 2012 NBA Draft

What he brings to the table: With wing scorers a-plenty on the roster, there’s room for another passer behind Goran Dragic. Marshall is as pass-first as it gets, a reputation reinforced at the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas. The former Tar Heel looks to get teammates in their offensive rhythm well before looking for his own shot, a habit that earns plenty of points with any team.

Goal: Improve shooting (37.1 percent from the field, 31.5 percent from three in 2012-13)

Best game as a pro: March 28, 2013 vs. Sacramento. With Dragic out of the lineup, Marshall played some of his most productive minutes in a game that was close until the very end. He finished with nine points, 10 assists and two steals as part of a late-season surge in his rookie year.
