Suns Announce 2006-07 Schedule

Coming off their second consecutive trip to the Western Conference Finals, the Phoenix Suns will tip-off the club’s 39th NBA season with back-to-back nationally televised games against the Los Angeles Lakers and Clippers, who the Suns defeated in the first two rounds of the 2006 NBA Playoffs in captivating seven-game series.

Phoenix opens the 2006-07 regular season on the road against the Lakers at 8:30 p.m. (Phoenix time) on Tuesday, Oct. 31 on TNT. The following night on Wednesday, Nov. 1, the Suns will host their home opener vs. the Los Angeles Clippers at 8:30 p.m. at the US Airways Center on ESPN.

The Suns host 10 of their first 16 games at the US Airways Center, including a nationally televised rematch of the 2006 Western Conference Finals vs. the Dallas Mavericks at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 9 on TNT. The Suns will play 30 games, including 18 on the road, during one 54-day stretch from Dec. 7-Jan 29. Phoenix will travel for two five-game East Coast road trips during that span (Dec. 7-13 and Jan. 23-29).

The Suns will be showcased 33 times on national television, including nine times on TNT, 10 on ESPN, five on ABC and nine on NBA TV.

Phoenix plays 23 of its 41 home games during the weekend, including 15 on Friday night, three on Saturday night and five on Sunday, which includes two afternoon ABC games vs. the Lakers on March 4 at 1:30 p.m. and vs. the Mavericks on April 1 at 12:30 p.m. The Suns will also participate in 20 back-to-back sets.

Al McCoy begins his 35th season calling action on flagship station KTAR 620 AM. FSN Arizona will telecast regular season home games for its fourth consecutive season and MY 45 will continue to broadcast away games. Gary Bender will provide play-by-play for FSN Arizona and Tom Leander will be the play-by-play announcer for MY 45. A full broadcast schedule will be released at a later date.

Most home games start at 7:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday, with a 6:00 p.m. tip-time for Sunday home starts (exceptions are nationally-televised games).
