During the NBA All-Star Week, Grant Fogerty, an 11 year old Jr. Sun for the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Scottsdale, had the unforgettable experience of being a part of the Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA National Team. The team consisted of five boys and five girls selected from all over the United States.
Fogerty was recognized for his hard work, sportsmanship, and dedication by league director Jeff Berman of Boys and Girls Club of Greater Scottsdale. Fogerty and his National Team teammates were able to take part in several different activities and events throughout All-Star Game Weekend. The team was recognized during the NBA All-Star Saturday Night, attended the East/West Practice and participated in an exhibition game and Skills Challenge at the All-Star Jam Session presented by adidas that Sunday. At the exhibition game they played against a local Phoenix Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA All-Star team. Along with these many activities the Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA National Team attended the 2009 NBA All-Star Game.
At the end of the NBA All-Star weekend, Fogerty was presented the “Sportsmanship Award” by the Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA. Along with the trophy he was also presented with a Shaquille O’Neal All-Star jersey. The “Sportsmanship Award” is only given out to one of the ten Jr. NBA All-Stars and Fogerty was lucky enough to receive it due to his exceptional sportsmanship, teamwork, attitude, and respect.
The Jr. Suns program congratulates Grant Fogerty on doing such a great job representing Phoenix and wishes him much success!
