Dick Van Arsdale

Van Arsdale Known as "The Original Sun," Dick Van Arsdale was the club's first pick in the 1968 Expansion Draft and scored the franchise's very first basket on Oct. 18, 1968. Van played nine seasons in a Suns uniform, earning NBA All-Star accolades three times and leading the Suns in scoring twice, minutes played three times, free throw percentage five times and field goal percentage once. He still holds several spots on the club's all-time leaders list, including third in games played, second in minutes played, fourth in points scored and second in free throws made. Van is currently the team's senior vice president of player personnel.
