Coach
Paul Westphal
After a long
apprenticeship under Cotton Fitzsimmons, Paul Westphal - former
Suns guard and NBA All-Star - took over the Suns at an exciting
time. His first season as head coach, 1992-93, also happened to
include the arrival of Charles Barkley, the America West Arena, new
uniforms, a new logo and an incredible amount of national and
international attention on the Suns. Westphal guided the team to a
62-20 record that year, best in club history and tops in the league
that year, as well as their second NBA Finals appearance. In
three-plus seasons as coach of the Suns, Westphal posted a 191-88
(.685) regular-season record and 25-19 in the postseason.
