Similar to the Kevin Johnson trade of 1988, the Suns pulled the trigger on another multiplayer, blockbuster deal on Dec. 26, 1996, acquiring point guard Jason Kidd. Since then, the Suns' floor leader has developed into one of the top playmakers in the game. During his first season in Phoenix, he guided the Suns to a 23-9 record down the stretch and into the playoffs. In season two, he was named to the Western Conference All-Star squad, and in 1998-99, he led the league in assists (10.8) and triple-doubles (7), and was named to both the All-NBA First Team and First Team All-Defensive. JK also put up career numbers last season, averaging 16.9 points, 10.8 assists and 6.8 rebounds a game.
