Happy Pi Day! Wait, we weren't supposed to bake for this?
Then let us straighten this out and get it right as we recognize the best Suns players to wear the numbers in Pi.
It's the Suns Life of Pi
3 - Rex Chapman:
Sure, there are a few different directions we could have gone for the No. 3 but King Rex made one of the most memorable shots in Suns history against Seattle -- remember them? -- in the 1997 Playoffs. That was enough to win us over.
14- Jeff Hornacek:
How could we not go with Horny?
We mean, really. What he did as a player and what he is now doing in his first year as coach? Yeah, a no brainer.
That, and it was an excuse to remind him he wore these short-shorts before the suit.
1- Goran Dragic:
The Dragon has left a lasting impact this season with his aggressive style of play and passion.
Plus he has one of the best quarters in Suns playoff history while wearing another number in Pi, No. 2.
5- Dick Van Arsdale:
The Original Sun made this one really easy for us. Not only was he great but he was the only man ever to wear the No. 5 in team history.
9- Dan Majerle:
When your nickname is Thunder you make it on any list of the best in Suns history regardless of the topic.
2- Elliot Perry:
Sure, we could have gone with someone else for No. 2 but Elliot Perry and his socks are unforgettable in every way.
That makes him synonymous with the number. That and his Fastbreak Magazine cover in a bathtub filled with Socks.
6- Walter Davis:
Sweet D, the Greyhound and the Man with the Velvet Touch? When you have three nicknames and you didn't give yourself any of them -- we're looking at you Shaq -- you deserve to make the list.
53- James Edwards:
We'll be honest, Pi is one long number and we started running out of players. Since we used 5 and 3 already we went with No. 53 and Edwards was the only one of note.
