Draft Pick Tracker: Feb. 6, 2014
1 / 4By Matt Petersen, Suns.comWhile the Suns continue to maneuver for positioning in the brutal Western Conference, they’re keeping an eye on the Timberwolves, Pacers and Wizards as well. That’s because Phoenix could potentially add their first-round draft picks to their own in this year’s NBA Draft. The Suns acquired them in a variety of trades, though all of them came with various protections. This is an update on those teams and how those picks might come under the Suns’ control. A couple things to remember: Picks 1-through-14 are reserved for non-playoff teams. The order of the first 14 picks is determined by the Draft Lottery, which takes place every year in June. The lottery is weighted by record. The worse the record, the better chance to land one of the top three picks in the draft Playoff teams’ picks make up Nos. 15-30 in the first round. They aren’t determined by the lottery or any system of luck. They are arranged by regular season record, starting with the worst at No. 15 and ending with the best at No. 30.
