Suns Help Lift Up America

Posted: Dec. 6, 2005

In an effort to provide needed assistance to the Valley’s less fortunate this holiday season, the Phoenix Suns and Lift Up America distributed approximately 35,000 pounds of Tyson chicken and 12,000 teddy bears from Ty Beanie Babies® on Monday.

Suns players Kurt Thomas, Eddie House, Pat Burke, Sharrod Ford and Jared Reiner were on hand to help distribute the chicken and teddy bears to nearly 20 local non-profit organizations, including The Salvation Army, St. Vincent de Paul, St. Mary’s Food Bank, Food for the Hungry and United Food Bank.

The Phoenix Fire Department and Phoenix Police Department also stopped by to pick up a bundle of bears that they distributed to young victims of neglect and domestic violence. In addition, ten special families each picked up a complete holiday dinner package.

Lift Up America is a national non-profit organization co-founded by Suns Chairman and CEO Jerry Colangelo that partners with business leaders, pro sports owners, and athletic directors to develop creative ways to provide compassionate aid throughout America.
