Suns fever reached an all time high during this year’s NBA Playoffs with generous fans going to great lengths to cheer on the Suns while raising money for Phoenix Suns Charities.

Joe Lazzara, owner of Papa Joe’s Barber Shop in Mesa, used his creative talents to raise $280 for Phoenix Suns Charities. Throughout the playoffs Papa Joe offered to paint customer’s hair orange and purple in support of the Phoenix Suns, receiving more than $90 in tips. In addition, he personally donated $1 for every 3-point shot the Phoenix Suns made during the Playoffs for a total of $184.

Phoenix’s 104.7 KISS FM got creative with donations this season as well. Prior to Game 6 of the NBA Western Conference Finals, Jonjay and Rich of KISS FM’s morning show offered Suns fans on the plaza of the US Airways Center the opportunity to “Bash the Maverick”, a 1974 Ford Maverick with a sledgehammer. Suns fans got to bash the Maverick and KISS FM collected $67 in donations from the day.
