Suns Retorter: Bill Simmons Joins Suns Bandwagon

It was just a mere 16 months ago that Bill Simmons made his infamous decree that if he watched more than 75 total minutes of the Suns in the 2013-14 season, he was going to feel like he failed. Oh, how times have truly changed.

Not only did Simmons issue a mea-culpa by the end of last season about the previous statement but he’s pushing his chips into the center of the table and going all in on the 2014-15 Suns and the impressive play of Markieff Morris.

In his Grantland column Friday Simmons praised the development of Markieff and his performance in the clutch. (See Ben York's flow chart on the subject if you have any questions about how good he's been.)

It’s not that hard to picture Markieff and his fellow Suns showing up in nWo shirts, standing center court and announcing to the NBA that they’re here to shake things up.

Morris has practically done that himself this season.

After receiving votes for the league’s Most Improved Player award last year, he has taken another giant step in 2014-15. Not only did he emerge as a full time starter, but he’s averaging career-highs in points, assists and steals this season. Plus, he’s shooting above 70% in the game’s final minute making him one of Coach Hornacek’s go to guys in the clutch.

While the praise for Markieff and his growth spot on it wasn’t the best part of what the Sports Guy had to say. This was.

Yep, Simmons has come a long way in just over a year. He’s bought into the Suns of Anarchy enjoying a pace faster than the cars in his beloved Fast and Furious franchise. A brand of no-holds-barred basketball that makes them dangerous in any game against any team on any given night.

So pull up a seat on the bandwagon Bill. You've never been more right than that last statement.
