The Phoenix Suns, in partnership with Harkins Theatres and Coca-Cola, will host “Operation: Backpack” on Saturday, August 6 and Sunday, August 7. The campaign is one of the Suns’ Operation Orange community outreach programs, and will supply Communities in Schools, an organization dedicated to empowering Valley youths to stay in school, with backpacks and school supplies for the 2011-2012 school year.
Fans will receive two free Ultimate VIP admission tickets to a Harkins movie of their choice for a backpack donation filled with school supplies including crayons, spiral notebooks, pencils and glue sticks.
The Phoenix Suns will be collecting backpacks at the following Harkins Theatres locations on Saturday, August 6 and Sunday, August 7.
Saturday, August 6:
- Harkins Chandler Crossroads 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
(2980 E. Germann Rd., Chandler)
- Harkins Scottsdale 101 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
(7000 East Mayo Blvd, Phoenix)
Sunday, August 7:
- Harkins Park West 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
(9804 W. Northern Ave., Peoria)
Suns alumni, The Gorilla as well as members of the Suns Dancers and APS Solar Squad will be on hand to thank and interact with fans.
All items collected from the campaign will be delivered to Communities in Schools and then distributed to students as they begin the 2011-2012 school year.
Operation Orange is the new outreach campaign giving fans an opportunity to interact with the Phoenix Suns and the community through family-friendly events, activities, social media campaigns and charitable causes.
