Babby Talks Suns’ Chemistry, Future on Arizona Sports

The Suns fell to the Kings at home after four consecutive wins in a row over some impressive teams including a back-to-back against the Rockets and Mavericks.

During the streak, one could make a case they were playing their best basketball of the season.

“I think what we saw was the importance of chemistry,” Babby told Bickley and Marotta on Arizona Sports. “That was the principle motivation of making some of the moves we made at the trade deadline. It has given us an opportunity to recapture some of that chemistry. That, to me, was important and gratifying.”

Additionally, Babby has noticed the team seems to get more excited for the success of others, most recently involving Archie Goodwin’s clutch three-pointer against the Mavericks.

“One of the great moments was when Archie hit that three,” Babby said. “It was a culmination of all his hard work. To see him make a big shot in a big moment…the team was exuberant in celebrating with him. We haven’t had quite enough of that this year.”

With 10 games remaining in the regular season, Babby was asked what word he’d use to describe the 2014-15 Suns.

“Consolidation,” he said. “We have consolidated the gains we’ve made last year. I know it sounds peculiar but that’s kind of the way I feel about it. We went from 25 wins to 48 wins last year, an extraordinary job. This year we’re still over .500 in the Western Conference with an extraordinarily young team. To me, it’s a season of consolidation.

“I think the expectations were raised so dramatically by the performance last year it was almost impossible to match. We’re building on a foundation that we’ve set last year.”
