Jones’ Last-Second Heroics Lead Nuggets Past Rockets

LAS VEGAS, July 18, 2008 – Dahntay Jones’ last-second running layup secured the Nugget’s one-point overtime victory 105-104 over the Houston Rockets in Friday’s 2008 NBA Summer League presented by EA SPORTS night cap.
Jones had a game-high 29 points, including four in the two-minute overtime period, to propel his Nuggets to victory. He was complimented by teammate Elton Brown who finished with a 21-point, 12-rebound double-double on the night.
Houston was led by Aaron Brooks who had 25 points and 10 assists, converting a three-point play with five seconds left to give his Rockets the fleeting lead.

The game remained competitive through the second, with five lead changes and six ties and neither team leading by more than six points through the end of the half. In the second half, the squads kept it tight, with the Rockets soaring to a nine point lead, the largest of the game, due in part to Donte Greene’s seven-point quarter.
