Detroit 78, Charlotte 67

LAS VEGAS, July 18 – The Detroit Pistons finished their NBA Summer League campaign with an impressive 78-67 victory over the Charlotte Bobcats in Las Vegas on Friday.

With the win, the Pistons ended their summer league stint with a 3-2 win-loss record.

The Pistons jumped out to a quick start, scoring the first eight points of the ballgame and finished the opening quarter up 24-17.

Detroit’s hot shooting continued throughout the quarter as they connected on eight for 12 from the field behind Cheikh Samb and Will Bynum who each tallied seven points.

Detroit continued to dominate the game in the second quarter, building their lead to as many as 12 in the quarter and took a 45-36 lead into the locker room.

The Bobcats, however, came out strong in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Pistons 10-to-4 early in the quarter to pull to within four of the Pistons. But Detroit answered back, outscoring the Bobcats, 10-5, to close out the game.

Four Pistons scored in double figures, led by Will Bynum who scored a game-high 16 points. Cheikh Samb chipped in with 15.

The Bobcats were led by Kyle Visser with 13 points while Kyle Weaver added 12 points off the bench.

Notes: D.J. Augustin did not dress for the contest due to knee tendonitis. The Bobcats will play their final game of the 2008 Summer League on Saturday against the New York Knicks.
