| SEASON RECAP | SUMMER LEAGUE FAST FACTS |
|---|---|
| Record (Southwest Division) 39-43 (fourth) Statistical leaders: (David West 18.3 ppg) Tyson Chandler (12.4 rpg) Chris Paul (8.9 apg) Summary: The Hornets were in the playoff hunt late in the season, but were unable to push through, mostly due to the difficulties brought forth by the injury bug. Free-agent acquisition Peja Stojakovic only participated in 13 games, while leading scorer David West missed 30. Chris Paul battled was hampered most of the year, but still managed to finish fourth in the NBA in assists. 2007-08 OUTLOOK New Orleans is looking to build off of the optimism they sparked in the Big Easy two seasons ago. The name of the game for them is just to have all of their key guys stay healthy throughout the season. Tyson Chandler, who was second in the NBA in rebounding, will anchor the middle in his second season there, while Stojakovic will hopefully play up to his old form since coming over from Sacramento. Coach Byron Scottis also encouraged by the versatility and upside of rookie Julian Wright, but hopes most of all, that the team that appears on the court will finally reflect the squad he assembled on paper. | SUMMER IN VEGAS: 4th COACHED BY: Kenny Gattison Overal Record: 1-4 2006: 1-4 1st WIN: 84-67 vs. WAS (July 12, 2005) 2007 Draft: RD 1: (13) F Julian Wright RD 2: (43) G Adam Haluska DID YOU KNOW? *Despite leading the team in scoring during the 2006 Vegas Summer League and being named D-League Player of the Year, Marcus Fizer did not make the Hornets' final roster in 2007. *Fizer averaged 12.8 points and 5.8 rebounds in 22.5 minutes per game during the summer league. *Second-round selection Adam Haluska averaged 20.5 points during his senior season at Iowa. |
