Houston 74, Washington 69

Las Vegas, July 14, 2007 -- Aaron Brooks is making his mark on the NBA Summer League. The rookie point guard of the Houston Rockets scored a team-high 23 points (8-16 FG, 5-6FT) in the 74-69 win over the Washington Wizards Friday night.

Brooks displayed lightening quick moves and a nice ability to finish around the hoop in tonight’s game. He has now scored 21+ points in all three of his appearances at summer league.

The Wizards led by one (65-64) with 3:58 left in the game, but watched as the Rockets ended the game on a 10-4 run.

Oleksiy Pecherov helped the Wizards build a 17-point first half lead as poured in 17 points. He finished the game with 26 points (11-21 FG) and 14 rebounds. Nick Young, the 16th overall pick in the 2007 NBA Draft, had 14 points (5-14 FG) in 29 minutes.

Steve Novak chipped in 17 points (5-11 FG) and four rebounds in 32 minutes of play for the Rockets, while Carl Landry held his own inside with 12 points (1-4 FG, 10-12 FT) and seven rebounds.
