NEW YORK, May 31, 2007 — Tickets for the 2007 NBA Summer League presented by adidas, the league’s summer showcase in Las Vegas for top free agents and members of the 2007 Draft class, will go on sale Monday, June 4 at 10 a.m. PST. Fans will be able to purchase tickets by calling 702-739-FANS, through UNLVtickets.com or by visiting the Thomas & Mack Box Office and UNLV Ticket Outlets.
The 2007 NBA Summer League presented by adidas, formerly the Las Vegas Summer League, will feature 21 NBA teams and the Chinese National Team competing over 10 days, from July 6-15. A 55-game schedule will be played at the Thomas & Mack Center and the Cox Pavilion on the campus of the University of Nevada Las Vegas. The San Antonio Spurs, Dallas Mavericks, Philadelphia 76ers and the Chinese National Team will tip off games on the first day of action at Cox Pavilion (full schedule attached).
“NBA Summer League allows members of the new rookie class to get acclimated to NBA competition while giving undrafted free agents and a handful of veterans the opportunity to earn an invitation to training camp in October,” said Stu Jackson, Executive Vice President, NBA Basketball Operations.
This year’s action will also include the Portland Trail Blazers and Seattle SuperSonics, who own the first and second overall picks, respectively, in this June’s Draft. In what experts are calling one of the deepest drafts in history, 10 of the 14 top picks, including six of the first seven, belong to teams participating in Las Vegas.
“NBA Summer League is a great way for fans to see the league’s future stars compete, while also having a chance to root for some of their favorite teams in a family-friendly atmosphere,” said Gail Hunter, NBA Vice President of Events and Attractions.
NBA TV will broadcast 28 games from Las Vegas as well as provide reports on the Summer League teams featuring interviews with players, coaches and team executives. Joel Meyers and Rick Kamla will be on site to anchor the network’s coverage and to serve as game announcers.
Some of the players who have competed in the Summer League in recent years include: 2007 Rookie of the Year Brandon Roy (Portland Trail Blazers); 2006 Rookie of the Year Chris Paul (New Orleans Hornets); 2003 Rookie of the Year Amaré Stoudemire (Phoenix Suns); Dwight Howard (Orlando Magic); Kevin Martin (Sacramento Kings); and David Lee and Nate Robinson (New York Knicks).
