The Portland Trail Blazers capped off their 2010 NBA Summer League on Sunday with an 83-69 victory over the Chicago Bulls 83-69.
The Trail Blazers (4-1) had four players in double figures including a game-high 22 points from Luke Babbitt. Patrick Mills chipped in 18 for Portland. Morris Almond led the Bulls off the bench with 22 while Derrick Byars added 14.
Portland jumped out to a 12-4 lead early in the first quarter and finished the quarter up 25-15. The Blazers connected on 10 of 16 shots from the field while the Bulls hit just 4-for-12. Mills led all first-quarter scorers with seven points.
The Bulls (1-4) went on a 7-0 run to open the second and closed the gap to three. But the Blazers answered with an 8-0 run to head into halftime leading 42-33.
Chicago opened the third on an 11-5 run to pull even at 47-47. But the Blazers again answered with a 14-6 run to close the third. The Blazers' third-quarter surge was led by Babbitt, who scored 10 on 4-for-4 shooting including two long-range 3-pointers.
The Blazers continued to dominate the game as they built their lead to as many as 16 in the fourth. Portland outscored Chicago 22-16 in the final 10 minutes of play.
