LAS VEGAS -- The Dallas Mavericks earned a 72-71 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks Monday night when Rodrigue Beaubois hit a go-ahead jump shot with .7 seconds left in overtime.
With .3 seconds on the clock in regulation, J.R. Giddens tipped in a basket to send the game into overtime and gave the Mavericks the breath of life they needed as they looked for their first win in the 2010 NBA Summer League in Las Vegas.
For the game the Mavericks shot 40 percent (26-65) to the Bucks shot 40.9 percent (27-66). The Mavericks led by as many as eight in the game while the Bucks never led by more than four. The game featured 12 lead changes and 10 ties, most of them occurring in the fourth quarter.
The Mavericks led by six, 18-12, at the end of the first stanza. Darnell Jackson of the Milwaukee Bucks at led all scorers with eight points while the Mavericks had three players with three points apiece. The Mavericks connected on 7-15 for 46.7 percent while the Buck struggled offensively hitting just 5-19 for 26.3 percent.
The Mavericks retained their six point lead heading into halftime after building their lead to as much as eight in the quarter. J.R. Giddens scored seven points for Dallas in the quarter .
Milwaukee fought back in the third and tied the game at 42 apiece and took a two point advantage at 44-42. Dallas tied the game up at 44 on a pair of free throws and finished the quarter up two (47-49).
Dominic James gave the Bucks a one point lead in the overtime period on a free throw and Rodrigue Beaubois gave the Mavericks a two-point lead after connecting on a three-point basket with 28.9 seconds left. Deron Washington connected on a three-point basket with 5.9 seconds to play to give the Bucks a one-point lead (72-71)
Up next for the Milwaukee Bucks (0-1) is the Memphis Grizzlies on Tuesday afternoon in COX Pavilion. The Dallas Mavericks (1-2) will resume Summer League play on Thursday as they meet the Washington Wizards in COX Pavilion
