The Indiana Pacers wouldn't surrender, and ultimately, their heart and determination paid off.
Paul George converted on a game-winning three-point play with 4.7 seconds remaining as the Pacers overcame a 27-point deficit to edge the Boston Celtics, 86-85, on Thursday at the 2010 AirTran Airways Pro Summer League.
Tony Gaffney had a chance to win it at the buzzer for Boston, but his heave from 30 feet fell short.
Magnum Rolle led the comeback and finished with 19 points and 11 rebounds and George, who struggled in the first three quarters, came on strong late to conclude with 17 points.
Indiana shot just 37 percent from the field and 5-of-25 from 3-point range but outscored Boston by 20 in the fourth quarter.
Lance Stephenson left the game in the first half with an apparent ankle injury.
Luke Harangody, meanwhile for the Celtics, is beginning to look like he was a steal when he was selected 52nd overall in the 2010 NBA Draft.
Harangody recorded 16 points on 7-of-15 shooting from the floor and added seven rebounds.
The former Notre Dame star is the only men's player in Big East history to average 20 points and 10 rebounds per game in conference play for his career. Some considered him not athletic enough to compete against stronger, more physically gifted NBA players.
But after four days of Summer League action, Harangody appears he may have a chance to be an impact player in Boston. With Kendrick Perkins out for several months with a knee injury, it's possible that the Decatur, IL native will earn some minutes for the Celtics in his rookie campaign.
The 6-10, 284 pound power forward wasn't the only Celtic to flourish on Thursday, however. Jaycee Carroll shined again, scoring 19 points, and Ryan Thompson, the brother of Sacramento Kings forward Jason Thompson, contributed nine points and five rebounds.
