Summer League: Raptors 94, Knicks 92

The Toronto Raptors (2-3) closed out its five-game stay at the 2012 NBA Summer League with a 94-92 win over the New York Knicks (0-4) on Thursday afternoon from UNLV's Cox Pavilion. The Raptors, who led by as many as 16 late in the third quarter, held on for a two-point win despite a late 15-5 run by the Knicks in the final 4:01 of regulation.

After weathering eight lead changes and six ties earlier in the contest, Toronto took control of the game with a 22-6 run in a span of 7:48 in the third stanza for a 73-57 edge. The Raptors' Devoe Joseph scored 10 of his 15 points in the stretch off of two 3-pointers and two jump shots. Ed Davis and Ben Uzoh chipped in four points apiece, while Bobby Brown and Terrence Ross both pitched in two.

The Raptors initially hit double digits with 3:42 remaining in the third quarter and maintained a double-figure lead for roughly the final 12:37 of the affair.

Trailing by 13, the Knicks offense turned it on in the final 4:01 with eight points coming from Chris Copeland, who had a game-high 17 on 5-of-12 shooting. Copeland was successful on all three of his 3-point attempts and 4-of-6 free throws in the game.

Toronto opened the contest scoring the first seven points and only saw New York knot the score once in the first 10 minutes at 14-all. The Raptors then scored eight of the next 12 points for a 22-18 lead after one quarter of action.

In the second quarter, the Raptors led for all but 12 seconds of the opening 6:49. The Knicks took a short-lived one-point lead, 23-22, before Toronto went back ahead by one. With help from a 17-10 end-of-quarter run (5:01), New York carried a 48-47 lead into the half.

Besides Copeland's effort, the Knicks had three other players notch double-figures, as Mustapha Farrakhan has 12 and Chris Smith and Sylven Landesberg had 10 points apiece.

Uzoh topped all scorers for Toronto with his 16 points off 5-of-8 shooting and a 6-of-6 performance from the line. Davis and Chris Wright had 15 points each, while Brown added in 13.

New York will play its final game of the 2012 NBA Summer League on Friday against Cleveland at 1:00 pm.
