The Sacramento Kings (2-3) closed out their five-game stint at the 2012 NBA Summer League with a 91-82 win over the Boston Celtics (3-1) from UNLV's Thomas & Mack Center. Sacramento, who led by as much as 18 in the fourth quarter, never trailed in the contest despite having a nine-point lead wiped away heading into halftime.
With the score tied at 38 coming out of the intermission, the Kings built two different eight-point cushions (46-38 and 49-41) before the Celtics pulled within four, 58-54, with 2:55 left in the third quarter.
Sacramento then went on a 9-0 run (2:30) to close out the third with a 13-point lead at 67-54.
The Kings' lead ballooned to as much as 18 on two occasions, the last coming with 5:23 remaining in the affair.
Boston managed to cut its deficit in half with a 12-3 spurt in 4:20 late in the fourth, but it wasn't enough as the Kings hit a layup to end the game with an 11-point win.
Jimmer Fredette tied for the game-high in points with 19 off 4-of-7 shooting. Fredette, who gave his squad a nine-point lead with eight straight scores at the end of the first quarter, was 9-of-10 from the free throw line and 2-of-3 from behind the arc.
Thomas Robinson picked up a double-double for Sacramento, as he combined 15 points with 16 rebounds, 12 of which were of the defensive variety.
Darnell Jackson (13 points), Yancy Gates (11) and Dominique Johnson (10) rounded out the quintet of Kings' scorers in double digits.
Boston's Dionte Christmas scored 12 of his team-high 19 points in the second half. Christmas was joined by 14-point efforts from both Jamar Smith and Craig Brackins and a 12-point night from Jonathan Gibson.
The Celtics close out their run in Las Vegas on Saturday with a 7:30 pm tilt against the Milwaukee Bucks.
