After finishing the regular season with 59 wins, the Spurs have stepped up in the postseason. San Antonio defeated the Denver Nuggets in five games and eliminated the Seattle SuperSonics in six games.

San Antonio must now face the challenge of the top-seeded Phoenix Suns in the Western Conference in order to return to the Finals and a shot at another NBA title. The Spurs like to play fast and are very good at executing their secondary break.

The Play
Here, the Spurs get organized as the defense tries to recover. Manu Ginobili (20) has the ball and waits for his teammates. Robert Horry (5) breaks to the block, Tony Parker (9) makes a basket cut, and Tim Duncan (21) trails the play.

Manu Ginobili (20) reverses the ball to trailer Tim Duncan (21) near the top of the circle. Bruce Bowen (12) sets a down-screen for Tony Parker (9).

Tony Parker (9) breaks to the wing after receiving the screen. The defender on Parker reads the play and jumps into the passing lane to deny the entry pass from Tim Duncan (21). Parker (9) then reads the defense and cuts backdoor. Duncan (21), an excellent passer, finds Parker (9) for the hoop.
