The Play
The Miami Heat move to the second round of the playoffs after a 4-2 series win over the Chicago Bulls. Dwyane Wade and Shaquille O’Neal gave solid performances to help the Heat advance. Look for the Heat to continue to use O’Neal’s presence to create opportunities for Dwyane Wade and the Heat’s supporting cast.
Jason Williams (55) begins this set for the Miami Heat by running the two-man game with Shaquille O’Neal (32). O’Neal (32) is located at the right elbow and sets a high screen for Williams (55), who drives hard and attempts to utilize the pick.
The defender on Shaquille O’Neal (32) jumps out and takes away Jason Williams’ 3-point shot. However, the Heat offense runs through O’Neal (32) and now the defense must rotate to prevent him from slipping to the basket. The defender on Udonis Haslem (40) switches over to O’Neal (32) and the defender on Dwyane Wade (3) rotates to Haslem (40).
Jason Williams (55) and Dwyane Wade (3) immediately read the defensive rotation. Wade (3), who was left wide-open, cuts to the basket. Williams (55) throws a lob pass to the rim and Wade (3) finishes this play with a spectacular two-hand dunk above the rim.
