Nov. 12, 2007 --STATS goes inside the numbers and provides a weekly look at the most noteworthy boxscore happenings in the NBA. This is the second installment of the season, covering games from Nov. 5-12.

The Heat, Wizards, Bulls and Warriors all started 2007-08 with four straight losses. It’s the first time in league history that four clubs which made the playoffs in the previous season began 0-4. With Minnesota and Seattle starting off with four straight losses as well, this is also the first time a total of six different teams overall began a season at 0-4.

Kobe Bryant and Tracy McGrady are facing each other for the sixteenth time in their careers this Wednesday in Houston. Bryant has scored a total of 98 points in the last two meetings between the two, compared to 60 for T-Mac, but McGrady’s Rockets have come out on top in both contests. McGrady has outscored Bryant just twice in their previous 15 meetings.

Boston’s trio of Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen and Paul Pierce are each averaging over 20 points per game in 2007-08. The Celtics have had three different players average 20 or more points in the same season just one time in franchise history – 1966-67 (John Havlicek, Bailey Howell and Sam Jones).

Kevin Garnett and Al Jefferson have each recorded double-doubles in the first five games with their new clubs. The last player with double-doubles in his first six games with a new team – Danny Fortson (2000-01) with the Golden State Warriors.

The Raptors have already won two road games by a margin of at least 30 points in 2007-08. Coming into this season, Toronto had a total of just two road wins by 30 or more points in its franchise history, both coming in 1996-97.

Dwight Howard, Emeka Okafor and Shawn Marion each grabbed at least 20 rebounds in their games last Friday. It was the first time since October 29, 2003 that three different players had 20 or more boards on the same day (Kevin Garnett, Tim Duncan, Marcus Camby).

Deron Williams is averaging 21.0 points and 10.4 assists per game while shooting 51.9 percent from the field in 2007-08. Only two players in NBA history have averaged at least 20 points and 10 assists per game while hitting half of their field goal attempts in a single season – Magic Johnson (1986-87 and 1988-89) and Kevin Johnson (1988-89 and 1990-91).

After averaging 10.7 rebounds per game in his first season with the Bulls, Ben Wallace is averaging just 4.8 boards in 2007-08. His 5.9 rebound per game drop from 2006-07 is the largest for any player to play in at least half of his team’s contests in both seasons.
