Kevin Garnett scored 22 points and grabbed 20 rebounds in his Celtics’ debut last Friday. The last player to post a 20-20 game in his first career contest with a new team – Charles Barkley (20 points, 33 rebounds) with the Houston Rockets on Nov. 2, 1996. Barkley also had 37 points and 21 rebounds in his debut with the Phoenix Suns on November 7, 1992.

The Chicago Bulls and the Washington Wizards, participants in each of the past three postseasons, are both off to 0-3 starts in 2007-08. The last team to advance to the NBA Finals after starting a season 0-3 – the 1990-91 Chicago Bulls.

The Cavaliers head to Utah on Wednesday for what will be their third game on a six-game western trip. LeBron James has averaged 32.5 points per game in four contests at EnergySolutions Arena, his highest scoring average at any arena throughout his NBA career.

Carlos Boozer, facing the Cavaliers for the third time since leaving Cleveland this Wednesday, had at least 30 points and 15 rebounds in each of his first two games this season. He has recorded eight such contests since the beginning of 2006-07, three more than the player with the next highest total (Yao Ming – five).

The Mavericks shot .652 from the field in their victory over Sacramento on Saturday. It was the highest single-game field-goal percentage by a team since the Spurs hit .662 of their field-goal attempts against Cleveland on December 11, 2004. Dallas gets its first chance at revenge against the Warriors this Thursday in Oakland.

Kobe Bryant is the only Laker to appear in a game so far in 2007-08 with a career scoring average over 10.0 ppg. Every other team in the league has at least three such players. Through Sunday’s games, the Milwaukee Bucks have seven different players with double-figure scoring averages for their careers, the most of any club.

Tracy McGrady and the Rockets will take on the San Antonio Spurs this Tuesday in Houston. McGrady has scored at least 20 points in 17 straight games against the Spurs, the longest active streak by any player against San Antonio. Kobe Bryant’s streak of 23 straight games with at least 20 points against the Clippers is the longest current streak by a player against any team in the league.

Kevin Durant averaged 23.0 points in his first week in the NBA, 12.5 points higher than the rookie with the next highest scoring average – Daequan Cook of the Heat (10.5). Durant is also attempting 21.3 shots per game thus far. The last rookie to attempt at least 20 field goals per contest was Bernard King (21.1) in 1977-78.

There has been an average of 37.0 three-pointers attempted per game so far this season. The league-high for threes attempted per game in any campaign is 33.9, set in 2006-07.
