Jan. 28, 2008 -- STATS goes inside the numbers and provides a weekly look at the most noteworthy boxscore happenings in the NBA. This is the thirteenth installment of the season, covering games from Jan 21-27.

On Monday night, Nuggets guard Anthony Carter dished out 14 assists against the Lakers, without scoring a single point. The last player to tally at least 14 assists in a game while going scoreless was Greg Anthony (14), who led the Knicks to a 109-107 overtime victory over the Magic on March 8, 1993.

On Friday night against the Nuggets, Jason Kidd scored 13 points, pulled down 11 boards, and dished out 10 assists to record his 11th triple-double of the season. Kidd now needs just one more triple-double to match his career high of 12 last season. The only player with more triple-doubles in a season since 1991-92 is Grant Hill, who accomplished the feat 13 times for the Pistons during the 1996-97 season.

Despite going just 5-5 over their last 10 games, the Boston Celtics finished the first half of their season with a 34-7 record. This is the fourth time in franchise history that Boston has had that record at the halfway mark. The first time it occurred, during the 1964-65 season, the Celtics won their seventh of eight consecutive NBA championships.

From the 1999-2000 season to the end of last season, Kevin Garnett recorded 504 double-doubles for the Minnesota Timberwolves – most in the NBA over that time span. This season, one of the players traded for Garnett, Al Jefferson, has tallied a double-double in 14 straight home games – the longest active streak in the NBA.

On Wednesday night, Zydrunas Ilgauskas went 10-for-10 from the field, leading the Cavaliers to a 121-85 victory over the Wizards. It marked just the second time this season that a player was perfect from the floor with at least 10 field goal attempts. Back on November 6, Desmond Mason went 10-for-10 from the field against the Raptors.

Josh Smith posted his first career triple-double in Wednesday’s loss to the Nuggets. In addition to the double-digit points, rebounds and assists, Smith had five blocks and three steals. Since the start of the 2000-01 season, Smith is one of just two players (Shaquille O’Neal the other) to have had 20 points, 10 rebounds, five assists, five blocks and three steals in the same game more than once.

On Sunday night, Andris Biedrins pulled down an NBA season high 26 rebounds against the Knicks. In each of the last five seasons (including this season), there has been exactly one performance of more than 25 rebounds in a game. Along with Biedrins, Ben Wallace (27), Dwight Howard (26), Erick Dampier (26) and Shaquille O’Neal (26) have provided the dominating work on the glass.

With an eight-game win streak, the New Orleans Hornets now have the best record (31-12) in the Western Conference. In each of their games during the streak, the Hornets have allowed less than 93 points. On the season, the Hornets are the NBA’s only undefeated team (19-0) when scoring at least 100 points.
