20-Second Timeout: Sean Elliott - The Picture of Class
by Bill Schoening, the radio voice of the Spurs

  • Here's To You, #32

Whoever said good things happen to good people must have had Spurs TV Broadcaster Sean Elliott in mind. Sunday night's moving ceremony was evidence of the impact that Elliott had on fans, teammates, coaches, and even government officials.

Sure, Sean was an outstanding player and his on court accomplishments are well documented, but it was what he did off the court that truly makes him special. Sean has the unique ability to make everyone around him feel important. His sense of humor and sarcasm are two of his best traits, and even when he's poking fun at a teammate or buddy, he does it such a way that is non-offensive.

The fact that much of his humor is self-deprecating makes him even more appealing.

His courage in coming back from a kidney transplant inspired countless peole who were sufferering from their own illnesses. His good friend Steve Kerr said it best when he said that Sean Elliott is an important part of the foundation that built the Spurs. You can see that on a daily basis when you see the respect shown to Sean by current members of the team.

Class, courage, humor, and talent are just a few of the words to describe one of the best Spurs ever.
