SPURS SPORTS & ENTERTAINMENT UNVEILS RENOVATIONS TO THE AT&T CENTER

SAN ANTONIO (April 7, 2015) - Spurs Sports & Entertainment announced today additional details surrounding the $100+ million in improvements and renovations to the Bexar County-owned AT&T Center scheduled to begin in the summer of 2015.  Check out NewATTCenter.com to view renderings and details outlining the major renovations to the arena’s infrastructure and technology, which will enhance the fan experience at all levels of the arena.  Starting on Wednesday, April 8 fans attending Spurs or Rampage games can visit interactive kiosks on the AT&T Center Plaza Level that showcase the exciting new changes.

“We began the renovation planning process more than six years ago,” said Lori Warren, Spurs Sports & Entertainment SVP of Corporate Finance and Strategy.  “We conducted extensive research and listened to feedback from our partners, Bexar County leadership and especially our fans.  We wanted to ensure that the renovations to the arena are impactful in meeting the needs and enhancing the experience of all guests that visit our arena.  These updates will help maintain the AT&T Center as a first-class facility for many more years to come.”

Technology enhancements to the AT&T Center are a key area of focus and technology updates will be visibly prevalent arena-wide with the installation of high definition televisions and LED signage throughout the arena.  The addition of LED displays to the NE, SE and SW ticket towers and East Main Entrance will give the exterior a striking new look and provide the ability to showcase game action, event highlights and promotional messaging.  The centerpiece of the technology updates will be the installation of a brand new center-hung video board that will provide a state-of-the-art, high-definition display and have more than four times the viewable area of the previous board.  A new audio system and improved Wi-Fi capabilities round out the technology enhancements that will help elevate and create a more immersive fan experience.

The AT&T Center will receive all new seating arena-wide and infrastructure improvements will include expanded and updated concourses and enhancements to the arena entrances.  There will be something new for everyone at all levels of the AT&T Center.

Plaza Level

The Plaza Level concourse will feature a major expansion to the south side of the arena that will significantly increase the footprint to provide more space for a larger, renovated Fan Shop, located directly adjacent to an enhanced SE entrance for more convenient access.

Additionally, the Whataburger location will be relocated to the exterior of the south side of the arena and expanded to create both a concourse location and a dine-in experience that the general public can access on non-event days during select hours.  Plaza Level improvements will also include brighter, modern décor, enhanced lighting and improved directional signage.

H-E-B Fan Zone Level

Fans in the H-E-B Fan Zone Level will experience several new destination spaces, including two new bar areas in the northeast and southeast corners that provide a unique view of the action and a neighborhood pub experience.  The existing East Porch will transform into a unique street festival-like experience featuring a variety of new culinary creations.  A new Fan Shop will open where the Bud Light Lime Lounge is currently located on the north side to provide a more convenient shopping experience for fans on that level.

Charter Level

The Charter Level experience will be completely transformed to create a more expansive and upscale space with a modern flair, while preserving the intimate environment that currently exists.  The North and South Saddles and Spurs Clubs will be expanded and accented by new decor and furnishings, additional bar areas, new food offerings and additional seating areas.  The Courtside Suite experience will be transformed by repurposing the Hospitality Suites to create a separate club featuring a new, high-end all-inclusive offering of food, beer and wine for all Spurs games and other select events.

Terrace Level

The premium experience on the Terrace Level will be significantly enhanced by the complete remodeling of every suite, which will include new furnishings and appliances, high definition televisions and a choice of two different decor options.  The six existing Party Suites on the east side of the Terrace Level will be transformed into intimate Theater Boxes. The 14 new four-seat Theater boxes will offer a unique and intimate entertainment experience that includes all-inclusive food and beverage offerings and premier viewing for sporting events and concerts.

The majority of the renovations are set to be completed by October 30, 2015.  Funding for the renovations are provided by both Spurs Sports & Entertainment and the Bexar County Visitor Tax, established by voters in 1999 to build the AT&T Center.  In 2008, voters approved an extension of the tax to help fund the Tobin Center, the southern Mission Reach expansion of the River Walk, youth and amateur sports facilities, as well as improvements to the AT&T Center, Freeman Coliseum and rodeo grounds, all owned by Bexar County.  The Visitor Tax is paid through a 1.75 percent hotel occupancy tax and a 5 percent short-term motor vehicle rental tax to fund construction of venues and related infrastructure that enhance economic development and tourism.

The AT&T Center hosts more than 250 events annually and is home to the award-winning San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo, the San Antonio Spurs (NBA), San Antonio Stars (WNBA) and San Antonio Rampage (AHL).
