Spurs Sign Aramark and Levy Restaurants to Provide Dining, Concessions & Retail at SBC Center

SAN ANTONIO, Jan. 10, 2001 - In their commitment to provide something for everyone, the San Antonio Spurs have contracted ARAMARK to provide concessions and handle the retail and novelty merchandising, and Levy Restaurants to serve as their premium dining provider, when they move into the SBC Center in fall 2002.

"Time spent at a state-of-the-art facility such as the SBC Center is about so much more than the game - it's a complete entertainment experience," said Liza Cartmell, President of ARAMARK Sports and Entertainment Division. "At the new arena, we will introduce a customized lineup of food and merchandise so all fans and their families can take part in that experience and will want to return again and again."

ARAMARK currently manages food, retail and other support operations at NBA facilities including the Pepsi Center in Denver, Cleveland's Gund Arena, Houston's Compaq Center, Philadelphia's First Union Center, Los Angeles' STAPLES Center, and Conseco Fieldhouse in Indiana. ARAMARK, which currently hosts Spurs fans at the Alamodome, will continue to provide food services at the SBC Center.

"We are pleased to share our restaurant philosophies, service and expertise with the guests of the SBC Center," said Larry Levy, Chairman and CEO of Levy Restaurants. "For the fans in the suites to private club guests, we can guarantee a wonderful dining experience and warm hospitality on each and every visit. We serve each guest with a desire to exceed their expectations, so it is truly exciting to have been selected to provide our signature style of dining for a facility with a similar vision."

Levy Restaurants currently provides the premium dining for multiple NBA team venues including Atlanta's Philip's Arena, Washington D.C.'s MCI Center, Los Angeles' STAPLES Center, and Indianapolis' Conseco Fieldhouse ? to name a few. "ARAMARK is committed to the total fan experience, and will customize their programs to provide the best solution for their customers - which is exactly what we want at the SBC Center." said Steve Zito, the Vice President and General Manager of the SBC Center.

"In addition, Levy Restaurants has proven industry experience and a unique approach to premium dining, which fits with the SBC Center's overall vision of exceeding our patron's expectations from the minute they walk into the arena. We have made a commitment to offer something for everyone at the SBC Center, and with Levy Restaurants and ARAMARK on board, we can keep that promise," Zito went on to say.

While contracting new businesses at the SBC Center, management will continue their commitment to maintain a strong relationship with local Minority and Women-owned Business Enterprises (MWBEs). The administration and concessionaires at the SBC Center will always strive to exceed their goal for a minimum of 20% participation by local MWBE's in the purchasing of goods and services for the arena's operational needs.
