their first child, a son named Ojani … in the spring of 2004 launched GET FIT with Bruce and Buddy, a
comprehensive program aimed toward fighting child obesity in San Antonio … teamed up with H-E-B and
the Spurs Foundation to promote healthy living through fitness and nutrition … during the 2004-05 season
over 2,000 boys and girls participated in the program … active with the Elf Louise program (a San Antonio
program that provides Christmas gifts to children whose families are not financially able to provide them)
and the San Antonio Alzheimer's Association … runs the Bruce Bowen Foundation … the organization is
set-up to provide scholarships, tuitions and to “help those less fortunate” … holds an annual basketball
camp - teaching life and basketball lessons - which is free for youth in his hometown of Fresno … is on
track to receive his college degree in communications from Cal State Fullerton … over a three-year period,
starting in the spring of 2003, took three public relations classes at the University of Texas at San Antonio …
also completed an internship and an online correspondence course to complete the requirements
necessary for his degree (expected to “graduate” in December of 2005) … a big Dallas Cowboys fan.
