Full name is Boris Babacar Diaw-Riffiod… The son of Issa Diaw, a lawyer in Dakar, Senegal, and Elisabeth Riffiod, who played 13 years and 247 international matches for the French National Team… According to the Suproleague Yearbook, a basketball publication in France, his mother is considered to be the best center in French women's basketball history, while his father is a former Senegalese high jump champion… He has two brothers, Martin, who played in the French B (second league) at Golbey-Epinal, and younger half-brother Papa "Paco" who previously played guard at Georgia Tech… Created a not-for-profit organization in 2005 (Babac'Ards) to help young Senegalese children become productive citizens with a focus on education and basketball… Babac'Ards is named after his Senegalese middle name, Babacar, and a few letters standing for: Association to Realize Development based on international Solidarity… Annually holds a basketball camp in Dakar, Senegal… Joined fellow French NBA players, including Orlando's Mickael Pietrus, Golden State's Ronny Turiaf and Miami's Yakouba Diawara, at Basketball Without Borders Europe in Paris, France… Participated in the 2006 Basketball Without Borders Africa in Johannesburg, South Africa at the America International School of Johannesburg, where he helped teach awareness of AIDS and the importance of education.
