SAN ANTONIO - Spurs Sports & Entertainment can now add “international award winning TV creative” to its long list of organization accolades. With nearly 11,000 entries from all 50 states and numerous countries, this year’s Telly Awards proved to be one of the most successful competitions ever. SS&E brought home a total of three awards; a Silver Telly Award (the highest creative honor awarded) for the San Antonio Rampage’s branding spot called “Date Night” and two Bronze awards for the San Antonio Spurs “Be” and “In Here” TV campaigns.
Spurs guard George Hill is hosting George Hill’s Rising Stars Week with the Spurs & Silver Stars Basketball Camps this week, and media is invited to check it out tomorrow at 1:30 p.m. at the University of the Incarnate Word gymnasium. Hill will be running drills and interacting with campers to teach them the finer points of basketball during the afternoon session.

SAN ANTONIO (June 15, 2011) – ESPN The Magazine released its ‘The Ultimate Standings’ rankings for 2011 today and the San Antonio Spurs were named the top NBA franchise and the fifth-best professional team out of 122 total teams from the NBA, NFL, NHL and MLB franchises. The Spurs have ranked as the top NBA franchise six times and is the only franchise to have been named the top overall team twice among the four major sports since ESPN introduced its annual survey in 2003.
Ken Rodriguez is a San Antonio native who covered his first Spurs game in 1981 for The Daily Texan, the University of Texas student newspaper. He spent 26 years in the newspaper business -- 21 of them covering sports -- before joining the marketing department at Our Lady of the Lake University in 2009.
