SAN ANTONIO – The San Antonio Spurs announced today that they have signed Kris Lang, Keith Langford, Anthony Lever-Pedroza and Darius Washington. Per team policy, terms of the deals were not disclosed. The additions bring the Spurs training camp roster to 19.
Lang, a 6-11 forward/center, has spent the past two seasons playing with VidVici Virtus Bologna in the Italian Serie A league. This past season he averaged 10.4 points, 5.4 rebounds and 1.7 steals in 24 games in league play and 9.4 points and 4.9 rebounds in 12 FIBA Eurocup games. The former University of North Carolina standout spent the 2004-05 season in Korea playing for the Seoul SK Knights where he was named the All-Korean KBL Center of the Year after averaging 22.9 points and 11.6 rebounds in 54 games. In 2004 Lang helped lead the Ashville Attitude to an NBA Development League Championship averaging 11.0 points and 6.0 rebounds in 44 games. In four seasons with the Tarheels, he averaged 10.9 points and 5.3 rebounds and earned All-ACC honorable mention as a senior.
Langford played on the Spurs 2007 Las Vegas Summer League squad. In three games, he averaged 2.3 points and 1.0 rebound in 10.0 minutes. He spent the past season playing for Vanoli Soresina in the Italian Lega2 where he averaged 19.7 points, 4.9 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 2.2 steals in 34 games. The 6-4 guard was in the 2005 Houston Rockets training camp and saw action in three games before being waived. He later signed with the Fort Worth Flyers of the NBA Development League and appeared in 46 games, averaging 11.5 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.4 assists. Langford played four seasons at the University of Kansas where he earned Second Team All-Big 12 honors his junior and senior seasons. The former Jawhawk played in the 2003 National Championship Game and made trips to the NCAA Final Four in 2002 and the NCAA Elite Eight in 2004. In four seasons with the Jayhawks, he averaged 13.3 points, 4.3 rebounds and 2.4 assists in 136 games.
Lever-Pedroza is coming off an impressive showing at the 2007 FIBA Americas Championship. A member of the Mexican National team since 2002, he averaged 13.0 points, 3.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists in eight games for Mexico. The 6-3 guard finished with 19 points, 4 rebounds and 6 assists in 30 minutes in Mexico’s clash against Team USA. Lever-Pedroza has played professionally in Venezuela, France and Mexico. This past season he averaged 10.6 points, 2.1 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.9 steals in eight games for Gaiteros de Zulia in the Venezuelan LPB league. Lever-Pedroza played his college ball at the University of Oregon (1999-2002) where he averaged 6.5 points and 1.6 rebounds in 93 games and helped guide the Ducks to the 2002 Elite Eight. He is the son of NBA great Lafayette “Fat” Lever.
Washington was in training camp with the Dallas Mavericks in 2006. He appeared in five preseason games, averaging 4.4 points and 1.8 rebounds in 10.4 minutes before being waived. He then split time between PAOK Marfin Thessaloniki in the Greek AI league and CEZ Basketball Nymberk in the Czech NBL league. In seven games with PAOK, Washington averaged 11.0 points, 3.1 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 2.0 steals. In the Czech Republic, he averaged 12.8 points, 3.2 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 2.0 steals in 22.8 minutes in 26 games. Washington spent two seasons at Memphis where he was named Honorable Mention All-America by The Associated Press and was a First Team All-Conference USA selection as a sophomore. During his freshman season he averaged 15.4 points and team-highs of 3.8 assists and 1.7 steals and was named Conference USA Freshman of the Year.
