Sean Elliott to be inducted into Arizona Sports Hall of Fame

PHOENIX -- The Phoenix Regional Sports Commission and Jerry Colangelo announced today the 2010 class to the Arizona Sports Hall of Fame, which will include competitive horse racing trainer Bob Baffert, former NBA player Sean Elliott, women’s softball pioneer Billie Harris and former University of Arizona men’s basketball coach Lute Olson. Colangelo, a 2002 inductee, will serve as co-chairman of this year’s induction ceremony.

The Arizona Sports Hall of Fame was founded in 1957 by the Phoenix Press Box Association. The Association held 36 induction ceremonies before ceasing operations in 1991. The Sports Commission assumed custodianship of the Hall of Fame and held inductions in 1999, 2001 and 2002. The Sports Commission re-launched the Hall of Fame in 2009 as its sole annual fundraiser.

The honorees will be recognized during the Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony on April 8 at 3 p.m. at the Phoenix Convention Center. For more information on the Hall of Fame, or to purchase tickets to the Induction Ceremony, visit www.phoenixsports.org.
