Spurs Military Jersey Auction Raises a Record $186,000 for Silver & Black Give Back

SAN ANTONIO – Spurs Military Jersey Auction Raised a Record $186,000 for Silver & Black Give Back.

Following a victory Wednesday night at the AT&T Center, the Spurs auctioned off military-inspired camouflage jerseys to fans looking to give back and walk away a winner. Collectively, the postgame auction garnered $186,000 for Silver & Black Give Back, the nonprofit for Spurs Sports & Entertainment, and included a Sean Elliott signed ball and book, a team signed game ball and jerseys from each member of the squad. Funds from the auction will go towards youth programs such as Team Up Challenge and Spurs Youth Basketball League.

As part of the jersey auction, winning bidders will be invited back to the AT&T Center on Wednesday, Nov. 20, for a postgame meet and greet after the Spurs host the Boston Celtics. At that time, winners will be able to have their jersey signed and take a photo with players.

The Spurs created the camouflage-patterned jerseys to honor and showcase the team’s pride in the city affectionately nicknamed “Military City U.S.A.” San Antonio is home to Joint Base San Antonio, a military installation that includes the Army’s Fort Sam Houston, Randolph Air Force Base and Lackland Air Force Base. It is estimated that more than 300,000 active and retired military and government workers call San Antonio home.

Throughout the season, player jerseys will be available through in-arena and online auctions as well as being featured as part of Tux ‘N Tennies silent auction on Jan. 10. Spurs fans looking to partake in future jersey auctions can visit SBGB.org for more information.
