Boris Diaw Exercises Player Option

SAN ANTONIO - The San Antonio Spurs today announced that forward Boris Diaw has exercised his player option and will remain with the team for the 2013-14 season. Per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Diaw joined the Spurs as a free agent on March 23, 2012 and re-signed with the Silver and Black on July 12, 2012. Over the last two seasons Diaw has appeared in 95 games for San Antonio, averaging 5.6 points, 3.6 rebounds and 2.4 assists in 22.3 minutes while shooting .548 (219-400) from the field.

A 10-year NBA veteran, Diaw was originally drafted by the Atlanta Hawks with the 21st overall pick in the 2003 NBA Draft. He was traded to the Phoenix Suns on Aug. 19, 2005. In his first season with the Suns, Diaw won the 2006 Most Improved Player Award after averaging 13.3 points, 6.9 rebounds and 6.2 assists in 35.5 minutes over 81 games.

For his career, Diaw has appeared in 755 NBA games, averaging 9.1 points, 4.7 rebounds and 3.8 assists in 29.3 minutes while shooting .495 (2,864-5,789) from the field, .337 (331-982) from three-point territory and .709 (832-1,174) from the foul line. Diaw has seen action in 69 playoff games, averaging 10.1 points, 4.7 rebounds and 3.4 assists in 28.7 minutes.
