Spurs and USAA Honor Service Men and Women at Military Appreciation Night
March 5, 2013
SAN ANTONIO (March 5, 2013) – The San Antonio Spurs and USAA have teamed up to recognize our active and retired military troops when the Spurs take on the Portland Trail Blazers for Military Appreciation Night on Friday, March 8 at 7:30 p.m. The night is a celebration of all of those who serve and have served in the United States Armed Forces, especially the men and women stationed here in San Antonio, affectionately known as Military City U.S.A. During Military Appreciation Night and select games throughout the season, active military and veterans can save up to 40 percent off tickets. For more information and to purchase tickets visit Spurs.com/salute.
“Our military members and the families who support them are richly deserving of this very special night. USAA is extremely proud to be able to join the Spurs in honoring and saying ‘thank you’ to our nation’s military,” said Vice Admiral (ret) John Bird, senior vice president of USAA Military Affairs and a 35-year military veteran. “USAA and the Spurs understand the commitment and sacrifice our military makes on our behalf. At USAA, our 24,000-plus employees are dedicated to going above for those that have gone beyond; at Military Appreciation Night, we recognize all those who have worn or are wearing the uniform, as well as their families who have stood alongside them.”
To help make the night special for local military members and their families, Spurs Sports & Entertainment, USAA and Spurs season ticket holders have partnered together to donate more than 1,500 tickets to Friday night’s game to military families. Those still wishing to donate tickets can do so by sending directly to the Wounded Warriors Project.
The first 10,000 fans through the doors will receive Spurs wristbands. Fans attending the game also can take their picture with the Spurs championship trophies at the USAA table and discounted parking is offered for USAA members.
Individual game tickets are available for purchase online at Spurs.com or ATTCenter.com. Tickets may also be purchased at the AT&T Center Southeast Box Office Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. or on weekend event days starting at noon.
