Coach Pop Pregame Media Availability - Spurs vs. Suns

Spurs Coach Gregg Popovich:

((On players in the NBA trying to play through injuries…)

“It’s individual. Some guys if they’re injured are out for the duration [of the season]. Other guys want to play through it. It’s a very individual thing, but Gary (Neal) and Tony (Parker) both want to be out on the court. I guess most of our guys are really like that. They don’t think about it so we have to watch them.”

(On his approach after having the same team around the trade deadline…)

“It saves some time and lets us concentrate on other things. We don’t have to spend time teaching the system to people who haven’t been here. It’s really time consuming so we don’t have to do that now.”

(On being mentioned for a head coach position for USA Basketball in the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janiero…)

“Anybody would feel honored to have their name mentioned as far as the Olympic Movement is concerned and a lot of people can fill that role. That goes without saying anybody would feel humbled and honored to even be talked about in that regard.”
