Tim Duncan Named Western Conference Player of the Week

SAN ANTONIO (November 26, 2012) – San Antonio Spurs forward Tim Duncan today was named the NBA's Western Conference Player of the Week for games played Monday, Nov. 19, through Sunday, Nov. 25. This is Duncan's 21st time earning Western Conference Player of the Week honors. The Hawk's Al Horford was named the Eastern Conference Player of the Week.

Duncan averaged 22.0 points, a team-high 12.8 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.25 blocks in 34.5 minutes, as the Spurs went 3-1. Duncan recorded three straight 20-plus point, 10-plus rebound games from Nov. 19-23. The last time Duncan posted three straight games with at least 20-or-more points and 10-or-more rebounds was Nov. 23-27, 2009, which coincides with the last time he won Player of the Week honors.

Duncan currently leads the team with eight double-doubles and ranks tied for fourth in the NBA. He is the NBA leader with 739 career double-doubles among active players.

With a block on Andrea Bargnani at the 9:41 mark of the first quarter at Toronto on Nov. 25, Duncan recorded his 2,500th career blocked shot becoming the ninth player in the NBA history to accomplish the feat. Duncan joined Kareem Adul-Jabbar, Hakeem Olajuwon and Shaquille O'Neal as the only four players in NBA history to achieve over 22,500 points, 12,500 rebounds and 2,500 blocks in their career.

For the season, Duncan is averaging a team-best 19.0 points, 10.5 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 2.36 blocks in 31.4 minutes per game. He currently ranks sixth in the NBA in blocks and ninth in rebounding. Duncan has scored in double figures in every game this season, including 20-or-more in eight contests.

Nov. 19 vs. L.A. Clippers: Recorded 20 points, a game-high 14 rebounds and 2 blocks as the Spurs fell to the 87-92 to the Clippers.

Nov. 21 @ Boston: Tallied 20 points, a game-high 15 rebounds and 4 assists during a 112-100 win over the Celtics.

Nov. 23 @ Indiana: Scored 22 points and brought down a game-high 17 rebounds as the Spurs bested the Pacers 104-97.

Nov. 25 @ Toronto: Finished with 26 points, a season-high 6 assists, 5 rebounds and 3 blocks as the Silver and Black outlasted the Raptors 111-106.
