Spurs & Clear Channel Announce Partnership Extension
SAN ANTONIO – Spurs Sports & Entertainment and Clear Channel Media & Entertainment today announced a multi-year agreement to continue their broadcast partnership.
The Spurs and Clear Channel have partnered together to bring every Spurs game into the homes of fans on 1200 WOAI for all but one season since the team joined the NBA in 1976. The multi-year extension will allow fans across 38 states and Mexico to catch the Spurs action for years to come, thanks to the station’s 50,000-watt clear channel radio signal.
“We are extremely excited to renew our outstanding broadcast partnership with the San Antonio Spurs,” said Pam McKay, President and Market Manager of Clear Channel Media & Entertainment. “The Spurs organization is one of the finest in professional sports and 1200 WOAI is proud to be the place where Texans tune in for Spurs play-by-play and specialty programming. We are looking forward to discovering new ways to utilize the power of our two brands to positively impact our community and make the Spurs fan experience the best in the league.”
The agreement also includes broadcasting the San Antonio Rampage (AHL) and Silver Stars (WNBA) games on Clear Channel’s all-sports station, Ticket 760. The Rampage are currently celebrating their 10th anniversary season and the Silver Stars will begin their 10th season in San Antonio this summer.
"We have a wonderful history with Clear Channel. So much so that I feel WOAI and the Spurs are practically synonymous,” said Spurs Sports & Entertainment Director of Broadcasting Mike Kickirillo. “We are extremely pleased to continue this relationship and call Clear Channel home for the Spurs, Silver Stars and Rampage."
