Coach Pop Pregame Media Availability - Spurs vs. Cavaliers

Spurs Head Coach Gregg Popovich:
(On Boris Diaw missing a game after a collision with a cameraman on Friday…)
“It’s an accident waiting to happen and it never seems to change. It’s a problem that needs to be taken care of. It’s going to make a big difference at some point. I’ve got a feeling one of the big boys breaks an ankle or something because all of those people are right there under the bucket and then maybe something will get done. I think it should be addressed. It’s important because it’s a safety issue. Nobody can deny it’s a safety issue and secondly it takes away from the legitimate rhythm of the game. What if a guy goes down, it’s the end of the game, and it’s five on four the other way? It can make a difference. I don’t think it can be ignored.”

(On the Spurs’ bench units…)
“I think they played with a lot of energy. They’ve been very aggressive. I think that their defense has been pretty solid. They’ve been real important to us thus far.”

(On things a young team can do to grow as a franchise…)
“To not skip steps. Just concentrate on execution because in the end, that’s what wins. That steady, habitual play that forms through repetition and daily work, there’s no substitute for it.”
